  • Renaissance inspired Flora & Fauna at the Nethaniel Witherel

    July 2025

Flora & Fauna Watercolors inspired by Joris Hoefnagel from the early Renaissance will be on display at the Nathaniel Witherel during the month of July 2025.

Each painting completely hand painted by ShawnaLee.

The collection of jaw dropping watercolor paintings are part of the Pandemic story of resilience and determination. When shutdown happened, ShawnaLee re-imagined what teaching art classes could be like and dived in to teaching online watercolors.

Each painting in this collection is the instructors demonstration painting created during zoom classes.

During our online class time, what we gained is so much more than just learning about watercolor painting. Each studied work brings ShawnaLee and her students closer in sync with the thoughts and decisions coming straight from the early Renaissance.

During our class time, research on each of the subjects enhanced and elevated our ability to interpret Joris work for recreating his mastery.

Even though the paintings are watercolors, ShawnaLee’s research and study of the oil painting processes of portraiture have proven to transfer to watercolors. The resulting paintings are full of luminosity.

According to the Getty, where the original works are homed, the colors are exactly as they were painted by Joris himself.

Come, see the glorious splendor of these Botanicals painted with the luminoscity that is typically reserved for Renaissance oil paintings!

Also on view will be an assortment of portraits, pets and possibly a poster celebrating dentistry!

This scenic pleasure pace includes March Farms and the Bethlehem Land trust in Memory of Farrier Neal John Miller. email eileenflynn789@gmail.com for more details or to register as a rider. When you come, please stop by my art booth! I’ll be taking some photos (not official photographer) and painting. Special offers and a chance to win will be at my tent. Thank you!
